MEEN PATHIRI

Preparation Method :

  • Marinate the fish fillet with chilli powder, cardamom powder, turmeric powder and salt. Keep aside for about 20 - 30 minutes.
  • Dough: Mix refined flour, salt, two tablespoons oil with water to make a firm dough. Divide the dough into equal portions.
  • Beat the eggs well.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add curry leaves, chopped shallots, ginger, garlic, green chillies and saute till the shallots turn golden brown.
  • Add the marinated fish and cook on low heat, when cooked remove from heat.
  • Flake the fish into small pieces, sprinkle garam masala powder, fennel powder, coriander powder and lime juice. Adjust seasoning.
  • Roll each portion of dough into thick rounds. Press with fingers to flatten dough.
  • Place the fried fish mixture in the middle of the rolled out dough and wrap and seal the edges.
  • Deep fry the pathiri in hot oil and place on a kitchen paper to remove excess oil.
  • Now dip the pathiri into the beaten egg and deep fry again and serve with tomato sauce.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams Fish fillets, cleaned
  • 50 ml Coconut oil
  • 50 grams Shallots, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Green chillies, chopped
  • Few sprigs Curry leaves
  • ½ teaspoon Ginger, chopped
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • ½ teaspoon Fennel powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon Garam masala
  • Limes

For Dough

  • Salt to taste
  • 2 Eggs    
  • 250 grams Refined flour    
  • Cooking oil for deep frying
