MACKERELS IN SPICY GRAVY

Preparation Method :
- In a pan, heat the oil and cook the chopped onions till they are soft. Add in the kokum and cook till they are light brown in colour.
- Add in the mackerels along with the ground spices and turmeric powder. Stir to prevent the mixture from sticking to the bottom.
- Add the tomatoes half a cup of water and simmer to low flame for 5-7 minutes or until the fish is soft and the spices coat the mackerels.
- Adjust seasoning. Sprinkle in the chopped coriander leaves, remove from the heat and serve hot.
INGREDIENTS
- 750 grams Mackerels, cleaned, washed and cut into half
- 75 grams Chopped tomatoes
- 150 grams Chopped onions
- 50 grams Kokum
- 25 ml IDHAYAM sesame oil
- ½ teaspoon Turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoon Chopped coriander leaves
Ground to coarse Powder
- 9-10 Dried red chillies
- 2 teaspoon Dry coriander seeds, roasted
- 1 teaspoon Urad dhal, roasted
- ½ teaspoon fenugreek seeds, roasted
