FISH IN TOMATO SAUCE

Preparation Time :

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil and fry onion and ginger to a light golden colour.
  • Add the ground spice paste with the remaining ingredients and fry well. Adjust seasoning with salt and chilli.
  • Add the fish, cover with water and cook till the fish is tender and gravy thick. Decorate with coriander leaves.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams pomfret, cut into pieces
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 onion
  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 250 grams tomatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 15 grams coriander leaves
  • A pinch of sugar
  • Salt to taste

Ground to Paste

  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 8 flakes garlic
  • 4-6 red chillies
  • ½ inch piece ginger
  • 1 tablespoon tamarind juice
