SPICED CRAB WITH GARLIC AND PEPPER

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a pot and drop in the cumin. When the seeds crackle, add the onions and cook them till they are soft.
  • Add the garlic and when the colour changes, add the crabs with chillies, peppercorns, turmeric and adjust seasoning with salt.
  • Stir on medium heat till the crabs appear pink, pour in half a cup of water with the ginger and the kokum, cook for about 15-20 minutes. Stir occasionally.
  • Add the coconut and cook till the spices coat the crab. Taste and adjust the seasonings, stir in the coriander leaves and serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1.5 kg Crabs, cleaned, washed, shell discarded and crack the legs
  • 125 grams Fresh grated coconut
  • 150 grams onions chopped
  • 75 ml IDHAYAM Sesame Oil
  • ½ teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 45 grams garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoon fresh chillies, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon black peppercorns, crushed
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, shredded
  • 9-10 Dried kokum
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, chopped
