VEN PONGAL

Ven Pongal is truly a wonderful festival dish that can satisfy your guests at home! They’ll definitely enjoy every ingredient you’ve added into it, like whole black pepper, ghee, raw rice, water and leaves! Mix it all and deliciously serve it while hot!

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • In a pan, dry- roast the moong dal and keep it aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and fry the cashew nuts.
  • Now, heat a heavy bottomed vessel, add water and salt and bring to boil.
  • Add the moong dal and rice.
  • Simmer and when the rice is done, add ghee and keep it aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan, add pepper, cumin seeds and curry leaves and allow the pepper to splutter.
  • Add this pepper mixture along with the fried cashew nuts to the rice.
  • Mix well and serve hot.
  • Serve this divine ven pongal with sambhar.

INGREDIENTS

  • 400 grams of Raw rice
  • 100 grams of moong dal
  • 100 grams of Ghee
  • 1200 ml of Water
  • 50 grams of Cashew nuts
  • 2 teaspoon of Cumin seeds  
  • 2 tablespoon of whole black pepper
  • 10 Curry leaves
  • Salt to taste
