SAKKARAI PONGAL

Sakkarai Pongal is one of the lavishly recommended recipes during festivals that you’ll be more appreciated by guests after serving it on the table! It basically include ingredients as follows; raw rice, ghee, raisins, water, coconut, moong dal and cardamom powder!

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • On a saucepan, dry- roast the moong dal and keep it aside.
  • Heat the ghee in a pan and fry the cashew nuts and raisins.
  • Cut the coconut into fine, thin pices and fry in ghee separately.
  • Heat a heavy bottomed vessel and add the water and milk and bring to boil.
  • Add the moong dal and rice to the boiling water.
  • Simmer and when the rice and moong dal are done, add jaggery and stir well.
  • Add fried cashew nuts,raisins,coconut,ghee and cardamom powder. Mix well.
  • Delectable pongal ready to enjoy....

INGREDIENTS

  • 600 grams of Jaggery (Powdered)
  • 300 grams of Raw Rice
  • 200 ml of Milk
  • 100 grams of Moong dal
  • 100 grams of Ghee
  • 100 grams of Cashew nuts
  • 20 grams of Raisins
  • 4 pieces of coconut
  • 1 teaspoon of cardamom powder
  • 1200 ml of water
