WHEAT PAYASAM

Preparation Method :

  • In a pan, dry roast the broken wheat on medium heat stirring continuously.
  • In another pan, dry roast moong dal until the flavor pops out.
  • In a heavy bottomed vessel, heat 50 ml of water, add jaggery, melt it and strain.
  • On a pressure cooker, add 200 ml of water, the roasted broken wheat, moong dhal ,5 grams ghee and allow three whistles.
  • Add Jaggery and simmer it for 5 minutes.
  • Add thin milk and  simmer for another 5 minutes.
  • Add thick milk and put off the flame.
  • In a pan, heat 15 grams of ghee and fry the Cardamoms, cashew nuts, raisins and coconut bits separately.
  • Add to the Wheat Payasam and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams broken wheat
  • 20 grams Moong Dhal (optional)
  • 250 ml water
  • 250 grams Palm Jaggery
  • 500 ml thick coconut milk
  • 200 ml thin coconut milk
  • 5 cardamoms
  • 50 grams Cashew nuts
  • 50 grams raisins
  • 50 grams coconut bits
  • 20 grams Ghee
