AVIAL

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Boil the water. Add 1 teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon turmeric. Add vegetables. Boil for 2 minutes till slightly soft. Drain and keep aside.
  • Grind all ingredients of the paste till smooth.
  • Add water to the paste and keep on low heat, stirring continuously till it boils.
  • Add vegetables and simmer for a minute. Remove the avial from heat.
  • Heat 2 tablespoon coconut oil. Add mustard seeds. Reduce heat. Add curry, leaves and red chillies. Pour tempering on the avial. Serve hot.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 raw banana, cut into long strips
  • 1 small carrot, cut into long strips
  • 4 beans, cut into long strips
  • 2 small drumsticks, cut into strips
  • 1 small potato - cut into long strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon coconut oil
  • Few curry leaves
  • ½ teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 dry red chillies

Paste

  • ½ fresh coconut-grated
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 4 green chillies
  • 100 grams yogurt
  • 2 teaspoon rice powder
