MATHRI (SALTED CRACKERS)

Preparation Time :
50 minutes

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Mix rava / sooji and refined flour in a bowl. Add oil and mix it.
  • Now add black pepper, fenugreek leaves, carom seeds, yogurt and salt. Mix all the ingredients.
  • Knead it into firm dough with warm water. Cover it and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  • Take a small portion of dough and roll it out into small thick disc and pierce with fork all over or flatten it into a big circle and then cut the required shape with cookie cutter.
  • Heat the oil in a pan after half the dough is used and then fry the mathris at low flame until pale golden colour appears. Meanwhile make mathris with rest of the dough.
  • Remove the fried mathris on an absorbent paper to absorb the excess oil. Give it a standing time of 10-15 minutes. Fry the rest of the mathris.
  • Transfer them in an airtight container and serve them anytime with tea.

INGREDIENTS

  • 100 grams refined flour
  • 25 grams sooji / rava
  • 2 teaspoon dried fenugreek leaves (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon whole Black Pepper (coarsely crushed)
  • 3 tablespoons Cooking Oil
  • 1 tablespoon ajwain / carom seeds
  • 1 tablespoon yogurt
  • Cooking oil for deep frying
  • Warm water
  • Salt as per taste
