TOMATO GRAVY

Preparation Method :

  • Extract coconut milk and keep it aside.
  • Heat a kadai and add the sesame oil.
  • When the oil is hot, add the cinnamon stick and cumin.
  • When the flavour pops out, add the small onions and fry till the onion turns translucent.
  • Add the green chillies, cumin powder,chilli powder, garlic , curry leaves,salt and tomatoes and fry till the water content on the tomato is dry and the oil separates out.
  • Add the coconut milk and bring to boil.
  • Add the coriander leaves and serve with idli, dosa,chapathi or rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 5 tablespoons of sesame oil
  • 1 inch cinnamon stick
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 100 grams of small onions, peeled and cut into thin slices
  • 2 green chillies,slit length-wise
  • 2 teaspoons of cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons red chilli powder
  • 5 pods of garlic,peeled and cut into thin slices
  • few curry leaves
  • 500 grams of tomatoes,cut into small cubes or thin slices
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ coconut, grated
  • 1 bunch of coriander leaves
