STEAMED DAL WITH BEANS

Preparation Method :

  • Soak thoor dal in boiling water and coarsely grind, with turmeric powder, salt, asafoetida and red chillies. Steam for 20 minutes in a rice cooker.
  • Chop the beans finely.
  • Heat oil and allow mustard seeds to splutter; add curry leaves with it.
  • Cool the steamed ingredients and crumble with fingers.
  • Add this to the tempered mustard seeds and stir well for 3 minutes.
  • Cook beans, as required for greenness and add to the thoor dal crumble.
  • Taste and add if more asafoetida powder or spice is required. Make certain that the consistency is soft and not dry.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams of Beans
  • 4 ladles Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard seeds
  • 100 grams of Curry leaves
  • Salt for taste

Masala

  • 400 grams of Thoor dal
  • 8 Red chillies
  • 7 tablespoon Asafoetida powder
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
