PANCHRATNI DAL

Preparation Time :
20 minutes

Cooking Time :
25 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Cook Dhal with salt , turmeric and measured water in a heavy pan for 10 -15 minutes.
  • Reduce to low flame and cook for further for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from fire. Keep aside.
  • Heat oil and Saute all the spices with cumin seeds for few seconds.
  • Add ginger, curry leaves, red and green chillies. Fry for a few seconds.
  • Then add the tomatoes and garam masala and cook for at least 2 minutes. Add this baghar to the dal.
  • Bring dal to boil, keep on slow fire for 5 minutes.
  • Add lemon juice. Mix well with fresh coriander and Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams split black beans, soaked for 20 minutes
  • 50 grams red gram dal, soaked for 20 minutes 
  • 50 grams split gram, soaked for 20 minutes
  • 50 grams split green beans, soaked for 20 minutes
  • 50 grams masoor dal, soaked for 20 minutes

Ingredients for Baghar 

  • 50 ml Cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds 
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 2 cloves 
  • ½" cinnamon
  • Few curry leaves 
  • 2 dry red chillies - broken into bits 
  • 2 green chillies - chopped
  • ½" ginger piece - chopped
  • 3 tomatoes - chopped 
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala 
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped coriander
  • Juice of ½ lemon
