Preparation Method :
- Grind ginger and garlic to a paste.
- Cook brown beans with all the ingredients and measured water for at least 20 minutes.
- Keep on low flame for 10 -15 minutes. Remove from fire.
- Heat oil or ghee; reduce heat. Add cumin seeds, When it turns golden, add onions.
- Cook for 2 minutes or untill onions turn brown. Stirring continuously.
- Then add in tomatoes and cook for further 2 more minutes on low flame.
- Add coriander powder, amchur and garam masala, Stir for 20 seconds and remove from heat.
- Add the green chillies and red chili powder. Mix well.
- Pour over the hot dal. Mix gently.

- 2 cardamoms
- 4 pepper corns
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1" piece ginger - crushed to a paste
- 4 flakes garlic - crushed to a paste
Ingredients for Tomato-Onion Baghar
- 50 grams Cooking oil
- ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 onion chopped finely
- 1 tomato chopped finely
- 1 green chilli slit length ways into four pieces
- ½ teaspoon garam masala
- ½ teaspoon coriander powder
- Pinch of amchur powder
- ½ teaspoon red chilli powder
