HARI MOONG KI KHICHRI

Preparation Method :

  • Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and wait till it turns golden. Add ginger and green chillies. Stir for 30 seconds.
  • Add tomato and mix well. Add salt and dry masalas. Stir for 5 minutes on medium heat till oil separates. Drain soaked rice and dal and add to the cooker. Stir for 2-3 minutes.
  •  Add water. Pressure cook to allow 1 whistle and then reduce heat and cook for 10 minutes. Remove from heat.
  • To temper, heat 1 teaspoon ghee and add asafoetida. Add 2-3 dry red chillies. Stir and pour over the hot khichri. Mix well.

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 50 grams green moong dal, washed and soaked for 30 minutes
  • 50 grams rice
  • 2 tablespoon ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon chopped green chillies
  • 2 teaspoon chopped ginger
  • 1 tomato, grated
  • 2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder

Tempering

  • 1 teaspoon ghee
  • ¼ teaspoon asafoetida
  • 2-3 dry red chillies
