DAL MAKHANI

Preparation Method :

  • Grind ginger, garlic & dry red chillies together to a paste.
  • Cook the lentils in a pan with water, 1 teaspoon of fat , turmeric , salt and half of the ginger,garlic paste
  • Simmer to low flame for about 30-40 minutes. Remove the pan and keep it aside.
  • Heat the pan with oil when hot add the tomato puree and cook until oil separates.
  • Add curd with remaining ginger, garlic paste , garam masala , coriander powder with the tomato puree and butter , cook for about 10 minutes . Stirring occasionally.
  • Finally add in the cream and grated nutmeg. Remove from heat and Serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams whole black beans, soaked 
  • 2 tablespoon split gram dal , soaked
  • 2 tablespoon kidney beans - soaked 
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking oil 
  • 900 ml of water
  • Salt to taste
  • 1" piece ginger 
  • 4 flakes garlic (optional)
  • 2 dry red chillies
  • 3 tomatoes - pureed 
  • 50 ml beaten curd 
  • 75 grams cream
  • 3 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala 
  • ¼ teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
