MOONG DAL HALWA

Preparation Method :
- Soak dal overnight. Wash, rub and remove the green skin. Drain and grind it, using as little water as possible.
- Heat ghee in a kadhai. Add the ground paste in ghee and fry on a medium to slow heat for 45-50 minutes, stiring continuously.
- When it turns pink in colour, dries and the ghee separates, add sugar and milk.
- Cook the mixture on a slow heat. Keep stirring for 10 minutes.
- When the mixture dries up again, add the remaining ghee. Fry for 5 minutes. Add half the chopped dry fruits and saffron.
- Remove from the heat. Decorate with remaining dry fruits, cardamom.
INGREDIENTS
- 500 grams split green moong
- 650 grams ghee
- 450 grams sugar
- 1 litre milk
- ½ teaspoon green cardamom powder
- 8-10 threads saffron - soak in 2 tablespoon hot water
- 50 grams cashew nuts
- 2 tablespoon almonds
- 2 tablespoon raisins
