CHANNA DAL HALWA

Preparation Time :
4 hours

Cooking Time :
45 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Wash the channa dal and soak in the water for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Drain it and Pressure cook the dal with 2 cups of water up to 3 whistles.
  • Drain the excess water and let it cool.
  • Mash the dal gently to make a coarse paste.
  • Heat ghee in heavy bottom pan, add the mashed dal and fry on medium flame, until the raw smell goes off.
  • Add the milk and cook on high flame.
  • Add cardamom powder, sugar, along with cashew, Saffron and cook till the ghee separates from the dal mix.
  • Transfer the content on ghee greased plate and spread it and allow to cool.
  • Slice it and Serve.

INGREDIENTS

  • 200 grams Channa dal
  • 100 grams ghee      
  • 200 grams sugar
  • 400 ml milk
  • 100 grams split cashews
  • Few strands of saffron

    Hi, i tried the halwa and turned out to be good but it was not as fluffy as shown in the picture do we need to add any special ingredient for the fluffiness
