Preparation Method :
- The Tempering: Heat the oil in a pan over medium heat. When hot add the tempering ingredients. Fry till the mustard seeds splutter and urad dhal turns golden.
- Immediately add the beans, ginger and green chilies. Stir well and add in the cumin powder.
- Cook the dhal with of turmeric powder and 3 cups of water. Mash the cooked dhal. Adjust seasoning with salt.
- Add the cooked dhal with just enough water to cover the beans. Cover and cook on low heat, till the beans turn tender, but still firm to bite.
INGREDIENTS
- 150 grams topped, tailed and diced French Beans
- 100 grams moong dhal, cleaned, rinsed, soaked and drained
- ½ teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin powder
- Salt, to taste
Tempering
- 1 tablespoon Cooking oil
- 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
- 1 teaspoon urad dhal
- Few curry leaves
