Preparation Method :
- Grind the dhal with rice and a cup of water to a coarse consistency, set aside.
 - The Tempering: Put the oil in a skillet over medium heat. When the oil is hot but not smoking, add the remaining tempering ingredients.
 - Fry until mustard seeds splutter and urad dhal is golden.
 - Add the coarsely ground rice and dhal mix to the skillet and stir.
 - Add 1½ cups of water, adjust seasoning with salt. Cover and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until tender.
 - Stir in ghee and coconut. Serve hot with Sāmbhar and chutney.
 
INGREDIENTS
- 150 grams extra long-grained rice, rinsed, soaked and drained
 - 30 grams thoor dhal, rinsed, soaked and drained
 - 2 teaspoon ghee
 - 30 grams grated fresh coconut
 - 1 teaspoon black peppercorns, rinsed, soaked and drained
 - 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, rinsed, soaked and drained
 - 4 dried red chilies, rinsed, soaked and drained
 - Salt, to taste
 
Tempering
- 2 tablespoon Cooking oil
 - 1 teaspoon black mustard seeds
 - 1 teaspoon urad dhal
 - Few curry leaves
 - 2 dried red chilies
