HONEY-FRIED CHINESE LEAVES

40 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Separate the Chinese leaves (cabbage) and shred them finely, using a sharp knife.
  • Heat the peanut oil in a preheated wok. Add the ginger, garlic and chili to the wok and stir-fry the mixture for about 30 seconds.
  • Add the Chinese leaves (cabbage), Chinese rice wine or sherry, soy sauce, honey and orange juice to the wok. Reduce the heat and leave to simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Add the sesame oil to the wok, sprinkle the sesame seeds on top and mix to combine.
  • Transfer to a warm serving dish, garnish with the orange zest.
  • Serve immediately. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams Chinese leaves (cabbage)
  • 2 tablespoons Cooking Oil
  • Piece fresh root ginger, grated
  • 4 garlic cloves, crushed 
  • 2 fresh red chili, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons Chinese rice wine or dry sherry
  • 8 teaspoons light soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons clear honey
  • 200 ml orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil
  • 4 teaspoons sesame seeds 
  • Orange zest, to garnish
