TOFU WITH HOT AND SWEET SAUCE

Preparation Method :

  • Pat away any moisture from the tofu (bean curd), using absorbent kitchen paper (paper towels).
  • Heat the oil in a large wok or frying pan (skillet) until very hot.
  • Add the tofu (bean curd) to the wok and cook in batches for about 5 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
  • Remove the tofu (bean curd) with a slotted spoon, transfer to absorbent kitchen paper (paper towels) and leave to drain.
  • To make the peanut and chili sauce, mix together the crunchy peanut butter, sweet chili sauce, coconut milk, tomatos puree (paste) and chopped salted peanuts in a bowl.
  • Add a little boiling water if necessary to achieve a smooth consistency.
  • Stir well until the ingredients are thoroughly blended.
  • Transfer the tofu (bean curd) to serving plates and pour the sauce over the top.
  • Alternatively, pour the sauce into a serving dish and serve separately. 

INGREDIENTS

  • 750 grams (bean curd), cubed 
  • Cooking oil, for frying

Sauce 

  • 10 tablespoons crunchy peanut butter 
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce 
  • 300 ml coconut milk 
  • 2 tablespoons tomatos puree (paste) 
  • 50 grams chopped salted peanuts
