CHINESE RISOTTO

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the groundnut oil in a large preheated wok or heavy-based frying pan (skillet).
  • Add the onion slices, crushed garlic and Chinese five-spice powder to the wok or frying pan (skillet) and stir-fry for 1 minute.
  • Add the Chinese sausage, carrots and green (bell) pepper to the wok and stir to combine.
  • Stir in the risotto rice and cook for 1 minute.
  • Gradually add the vegetable or chicken stock, a little at a time, stirring constantly until the liquid has been completely absorbed and the rice grains are tender.
  • Snip the chives with a pair of clean kitchen scissors and stir into the wok with the last of the stock.
  • Transfer the Chinese risotto to warm serving bowls.
  • Serve immediately.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 2 onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlics, crushed
  • 2 teaspoons Chinese five-spice powder
  • 500 grams Chinese sausage, sliced
  • 500 grams carrots, diced
  • 2 green (bell) pepper, deseeded and diced
  • 400 grams risotto rice
  • 1 liter vegetable or chicken stock
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives
