BRAISED CHESTNUTS WITH CHINESE CABBAGE

Serves :

Preparation Time :
15 minutes

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Slit the tops of the chestnuts. Put them in a saucepan, and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil, and boil 10 minutes. Peel and cut in half.
  • Soak the mushrooms in warm water for 15 minutes. Drain, reserving the water. Cut each in half.
  • Shred the cabbage.
  • Heat the oil in a wok or large frying pan over high heat. Put in the cabbage and mushrooms and stir-fry 2 minutes. Add 3 tablespoons of the mushroom water and the tamari or shoyu sauce. Cover, and cook over low heat 5 minutes.
  • Put in the chestnuts, cover again, and cook a further 5 minutes.

INGREDIENTS

  • 350 grams chestnuts
  • 12 Chinese mushrooms
  • 1 Chinese cabbage
  • 4 tablespoons Cooking oil
  • 1 garlic clove, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tamari or shoyu sauce
