PRAWN AND HAM TOAST

Preparation Time :
30 minutes

Cooking Time :
30 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Combine topping ingredients. Spread mixture evenly over bread rounds with a wet-bladed knife.
  • Sprinkle with chopped ham and press gently into topping.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Place round in oil, prawn-side down. Fry 1½ minutes.
  • Turn rounds over and fry until golden.
  • Drain and serve hot.

INGREDIENTS

  • 10 slices day-old white bread, each cut into 4 rounds.
  • Cooking oil, for shallow-frying
  • 4 thin slices of ham, finely chopped

Topping

  • 500 grams green (uncooked) prawns, chopped
  • 4 tablespoons grated water chestnuts
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 teaspoons corn flour
  • 2 teaspoons ginger wine
  • 2 teaspoons light soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Pinch white pepper
