CRUNCHY TOFFEE APPLES

Preparation Time :
25 minutes

Cooking Time :
15 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • Cut apples into eight pieces, remove cores from apples.
  • Batter: Sift flour into bowl, make well in centre, stir in oil and water, stir until smooth.
  • Drop apple into Batter; drain off excess Batter, deep fry in hot oil until golden brown; drain apple pieces on absorbent paper.
  • Toffee: Heat oil in pan, add water and sugar, stir without boiling until sugar is dissolved
  • Increase heat to high, boil at least for 10 minutes without stirring or until Toffee turns light golden color.
  • Remove from heat, add sesame seeds. Dip 1 piece of apple into toffee at a time.
  • Remove immediately with oiled tongs and place in a bowl of iced water. Repeat with remaining pieces of apple.

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled 
  • Cooking Oil for deep frying

Batter

  • 500 grams self-raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking Oil 
  • 400 ml water

Toffee

  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 tablespoon Cooking Oil 
  • 200 ml water
  • 400 grams sugar
