BLAFF (CARIBBEAN LIME-POACHED FISH)

Preparation Time :
1 hour

Cooking Time :
20 minutes

Preparation Method :

  • In a large bowl, add fish and 250 ml water.
  • Cover and let the fish marinate in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
  • Remove the fish from the marinade and keep it aside.
  • Boil the marinade and the remaining water along with spring onion, garlic, salt and chilli/ scotch bonnet in a large pot at medium-high heat.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for about 5 minutes.
  • Add the fish to the above prepared simmering broth and simmer for another 10 minutes until the fish is cooked.
  • Serve it with rice.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams Fish fillets or steaks 
  • 500 ml Water 
  • 60 ml Lime juice 
  • 2 spring onions, chopped
  • 1 Scotch bonnet or other hot chilli pepper (minced) 
  • 2 cloves of Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
