AUSTRALIAN MEAT PIE

Preparation Method :

  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and sauté the onion for 3-4 minutes
  • Add ground beef and cook for 3-4 minutes until browned.
  • Reserve ¼ cup or 60 ml of water and add remaining water followed by bouillon cubes, ketchup Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, oregano, and nutmeg.
  • Cover and boil for 20 minutes.
  • Blend flour with reserved water until it becomes a smooth paste and add it to the meat mix, cook for 5-10 minutes
  • Remove it from the heat and allow it cool for some time.
  • Grease a pie dish and line with puff pastry.
  • Add the meat mixture and brush edges of pastry with milk
  • Top with puff sheet, pressing down to seal the edges, trim and glaze with egg.
  • Bake in a pre- heated oven at 220 degrees Celsius for 15-20 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to 190 degrees Celsius and bake for 25 more minutes or until it turns golden brown.
  • Serve with salad.

  • 750 grams minced beef 
  • 2 onions, chopped 
  • 500 ml water 
  • 4 beef bouillon cubes 
  • 120 ml ketchup 
  • 4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon oregano 
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg 
  • 4 tablespoons plain flour 
  • 4 puff pastry sheets 
  • 3 tablespoon Cooking oil
  • 2 egg for glazing
  • 2 teaspoon
  • Salt and pepper as per taste
